INO is the largest centre of expertise in optics and photonics in Canada and is among the best technological research centres in the world. For the past 30 years, it has created and developed innovative and useful solutions to meet the needs of businesses in Quebec and throughout Canada.

Created in 1985 thanks to the combined determination of Jean-Guy Paquet, who was then the rector of Université Laval, the Canadian Association of Physicists, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and various partners in the Québec City area, INO officially set out on the innovation path in 1988.

A world leader in high technology, INO has carried out 74 technology transfers, contributed to 35 new companies being started, and implemented more than 6,500 solutions to meet the needs of businesses in various sectors, including in the biomedical industry.

With its ISO 13485 certification, INO specializes in custom solutions ranging from idea development to prototyping. Its experts can also produce medical devices or even teaming up with other businesses to ensure a successful transfer.

Thanks to its experts’ range of skills and knowledge, INO provides support to businesses in various areas: microscopy (FLIM and live-cell imaging), spectroscopy, light-tissue diffusion, advanced 2D and 3D image processing, light delivery of samples and tissues, and more.

Working with INO means collaborating closely on your project from the start and then fully develop all business opportunities that may present themselves.
